Ahead of the event, we caught up with Diana Gorelik, Senior Analyst, Omdia, about the current state of the market in France.
In line with France’s latest progress with its fibre deployment, Omdia estimates fibre to reach nearly 90% of the total technology mix at the end of 2028. Importantly, the cost-of-living crisis will not have a major impact on France’s copper switch-off progress, as accelerated fibre rollout will remain a political priority, and we will see increased public investment in fibre rollout in the outlook period.
Fixed-wireless access (FWA) remains a niche technology in France with a 1.40% share in the technology mix. Total FWA subscriptions (4G FWA and 5G FWA) declined by 1% YoY to 448,000 at end-2022 due to a high fibre adoption rate throughout the rural areas of France.
Diana will be at Network X 2023 – register to meet her and more than 5,000 other telco professionals in-person this October, including leaders from Orange, BT, T-Mobile, Telefonica and more.
